Molecular nail art

It was a coworker who suggested I draw molecules on my nails after having seen the idea on Facebook. Since I never studied chemistry I had to Google for some ideas about what molecules to depict (appropriate complexity) but was all for the idea. 

This was a quick nail art to set up! A few lines with the striper and then some dots, the most time consuming task was to make sure I didn't mix up the colours. I topped the look off with China Glaze Fairy Dust for an extra sparkly look.

The result is perhaps more fun than beautiful honestly. At the outset when picking molecules I wasn't aware that they are coloured in different colours depending on the atoms they contain, meaning I wasn't expecting quite this jumbled look. Maybe I should've picked different molecules in the same family to achieve a more cohesive look. The molecules depicted are (from pinky to thumb); water, sand, ammonia, ozone and acetone.The base colour I used for this look was Essence Jacob's Protection from their Twilight Breaking Dawn collection. It's a beautiful glittery dark blue that even has tiny traces of green in it.

Det var en kollega som förslog att jag skulle rita molekyler på naglarna efter att han sett idéen någonstans på Facebook. Då jag aldrig studerat kemi var jag tvungen att googla lite för att få lite idéer kring vilka molekyler som var lämpliga att avbilda, framförallt gällande komplexitet, men jag var helt på idén.

Designen gick snabbt att få till. Ett par streck med Stripe rite lacket, lite prickar där enda kruxet var att inte sätta fel färg på fel plats. Jag applicerade ett lager China Glaze Fairy Dust på den färdiga manikyren för lite extra shimmer. Resultatet är mer kul än snyggt kanske. Initalt var jag inte medveten om att olika atomer ritas med olika färger vilket gjorde att jag inte insåg att det skulle bli så rörigt och så många färger när jag valde molekyler. Kanske hade det blivit renare om jag valt molekyler i samma familj för en mer sammansatt känsla?

Molekylerna jag avbildat är (från lillfinger till tumme): vatten, sand, ammoniak, ozon och aceton.

Basen för manikyren är Essence Jacob's Protection från Essence Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2 kollection. Det är en vacker mörk glittrig skönhet. Kanske hade den mått bättre av att bäras utan nail art till och med!
