Holo Gradient Nail Art

Another day with beautiful summer weather!

I have to spend some time today planning our summer vacation (we will rent a car and drive down the south eastern coast of Sweden) but hopefully I also have time for an hour or so in the balcony with a book.

Sunny weather always makes me eager for holographic polishes. I picked out Steel Panther from Dance Legend (their Wow prism collection is such a great one!) and two jellies on top in a little gradient. The pictures turned out better than I expected, I didn't think the gradient was too even in real life.

Ännu en dag med vackert sommarväder. Jag har på agendan att fortsätta planera lite för sommarens semester (bila till Öland är tanken) men hinner säkert med någon timme på balkongen med en bok också!

Soligt väder inspirerar mig ofta att plocka fram något holografisk lack, så också denna gång! Jag har hologlittriga Steel Panther från Dance Legend och så två jellylack ovanpå i en liten gradient. Bilderna blev bättre än jag förväntat mig, tyckte inte gradienten var särskilt jämn i verkliga livet. 

31 Day Challenge 2017: Day 20, Water Marble

Water marble was my first nail art love. Sort of like a teenage crush I was willing to work so hard making it work, gladly accepting all the mess it came with.

Then I got older and wanted some stability and guarantee. Enter other nail art techniques that are less unpredictable and frustrating, that can give you ten matching nails without too much struggle. Now it's been a year since I marbled the last time and I have to thank the challenge for at least ensuring I do it annually.. Here I've used two sheer and a clear polish and marbled them over a holo base. Wearing this look I can't understand what kept me, it is so eye catching!

Vattenmarmorering var min första nailart-kärlek. Lite som en tonårsförälskelse var jag villig att jobba hårt för att få till det och accepterade allt besvärligt runtomkring. Sen dess har jag blivit lite äldre och vill ha mer stabilitet och garantier. Det har lett till att jag upptäckt en rad andra nageltekniker som är mindre oförutsägbara och frustrerande och som kan ge dig tio matchande naglar utan alltför mycket stress.

Nu är det faktiskt ett år sedan jag marmorerade sist. Förra utmaningen var alltså senast jag gav mig på detta, och det är ju jättesynd för jag tycker ju fortfarande att det är fantastiskt snyggt! Älskar direkt denna look jag gjort med två lite skirare/tunnare lack och ett klarlack över en hologlitterbas. Verkligen iögonfallande och ser naturligtvis fram emot att se vad övriga åstadkommer idag.

31 Day Challenge 2017: Day 8, Metallic Nails

I had grand plans for the metallic nail prompt!

I do silversmithing as a hobby and collected a lot of silver dust during the last course I took. The plan was to attach it to my nails in a gradient style and then have real silver nails. That did not work out. Partly due to the fact that the silver dust (from sawing and filing a silver piece) is mixed up with a lot of other debris from the smithy that really is just plain old dust that will look terrible on your nails and partly due to how hard it was to try and attach it to the nail evenly.

Hence I had to resort to a different idea. This look is inspired by Morie's Nail Art and a gorgeous pond/jelly sandwich done with one of those real gold foil polishes. Mine has less depth and smaller gold pieces but was still enjoyable enough for me to wear all week, this week. The benefit of having prepared a bit in advance. But now it's time to remove it and move forward so I don't fall behind.

Jag hade storslagna planer för metall-temat. Jag håller ju på en del med silversmide som hobby och samlade på mig en massa silverdamm vid min senaste kurs. Tanken var att sen applicera det här silverdammet (som blir när man sågar och filar på silvret) på mina naglar som en härlig gradient. Det funkade inte riktigt. Det berodde delvis på att silverdammet innehåller en massa annat förutom rent silver som gör att det lätt ser ut som helt vanligt damm och delvis på att det var väldigt svårt att få det att fästa på nageln på något jämt och snyggt sätt.

Jag fick alltså byta idé och inspirerades istället av Morie's Nail Art och en jättesnygg pond/jellymacka som är gjord med ett av de där lacken med riktiga guldflakes i. Min fick inte helt samma djup som Mories men kändes ändå mycket bra, så pass att jag burit denna manikyr hela veckan. Fördelen med att ha förberett sig för utmaningen. Nu är det dock dags att måla vidare så jag inte kommer efter!

Tinted Chevron Nails

The Dance Legend Wow Prism collections were really popular when they launched some threeish years ago. I've always been late to the party so only just now picked up some of the pretties.

A polish I had to have was Steel Panther, the pretty silver holo of the collection. It was even less opaque than I had anticipated so I ended up wearing three coats over a silver foil to ensure no bold spots. The effect is creates is really pretty though, it's chunky yet linear and in my collection unique.

Over it I have used chevron vinyls and some thin jellies to create a blended effect. I really like my first manicure with Steel Panther! I primarily wanted it to use as a base for nail art since I have seen some great lead light stamping looks with it.

On my accent nails I have some matching studs. Studs are round just like dots, which is the theme for this week's Nail Art Sunday. Hence I hope hostess Lacky Corner thinks this manicure qualifies to participate ^-^.

Dance Legend Wow Prism kollektioner var riktigt populära när de kom ut för kanske tre år sedan. Jag har alltid varit lite sen på tåget så köpte först i höstas några lack därifrån. Ett av lacken jag var tvungen att ha är Steel Panther, silverholot i samlingen. Det var än mindre täckande än jag trott så det blev tre lager över en matchande bas (foillack) för att säkerställa att det inte blev några kala fläckar. Effekten lacket ger är dock väldigt fin, det är stora holo-partiklar men ändå linjärt och helt unikt i min samling.

Över det har jag använt zickzack-vinyler och några tunna jellylack för att skapa en liten färgblandning. Jag gillar verkligen min första manikyr med Steel Panther! Jag köpte den primärt för att använda som bas i nail art då jag sett några riktigt imponerande lead-light stämplingar med denna som bas.

Sen på mina accentnaglar har jag matchande studs/nagelstenar. Stenarna är ju runda, precis som prickar vilket är temat på Nail Art Sunday idag. Därmed hoppas jag att vår värdinna Lacky Corner tycker att jag kvalifierar för att få vara med ^-^.

Emily de Molly Spring Flower Manicure

It's very much still winter in my parts of the world but I've definitely started to dream about budding spring.

I think that's how I ended up creating this flowery spring look the other day. I used the leadlight technique to fill in the flower pattern from Emily de Molly EDM05. My base is also by Emily de Molly, Neutral Agreement.

Polishes used: Emily de Molly Neutral Agreement, Mundo de Unas Chocolate, L'Oreal Jolly Lolly, home mixed lead light polishes in yellow and green.

Det är ju ett tag kvar tills vi får vår men det hindrar väl inte att man drömmer om en årstid utan besvärliga tunga vinterjackor! Det var typ på den banan som jag gjorde den här manikyren. 40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Pale Blue

40 Great Nail Art Ideas didn't have its normal pattern prompts during the holiday season so I haven't done a manicure for it in over a month!

Now everything is back to normal though with every other week colour + pattern. This week it's pale blue base and my pattern is geometric. I decided to stamp with a triangle pattern from MoYou Fashionista 05 and lead light some extra colour into it. My problem with lead lighting, as you can see here, is getting the colour nice and even. It doesn't bother me too much but it's still a little annoying when you spend time painting every nail carefully.

The interesting thing about everyone doing different patterns is that some people end up with truly unique combinations. I've had some combos that were easy, some that weren't. This week I can't wait to see what was made of the combination of pale blue base + nude base ^-^! As usual, all the manicures can be found in the inLinkz below.

Det har varit lite uppehåll i mönstertemat som jag kör i 40 Great Nail Art Ideas. Nu är allting tillbaka som vanligt igen efter helgerna och det är återigen färg + mönster för mig och många andra. Veckans färg är ljusblå bas och mitt mönster är geometriskt. Jag valde att stämpla med ett triangelmönster från MoYou Fashionista 05 och sen fylla i mönstret (lead lighting) med lite extra färg. Mitt problem med den här tekniken är som kanske syns också att få det riktigt jämt. Det stör kanske inte massor men är ändå irriterande när man har suttit och målat en bra stund för att fixa alla naglar.

Det intressanta med den här utmaningen då vi alla har olika mönster är att en del kombinationer blir riktigt oväntade och speciella. Jag har både fått enklare och svårare kombinationer så här långt. Den här veckan ser jag fram emot att se vad som blir av kombinationen ljusblå bas + nude bas! Som vanligt, alla manikyrer i inLinkz nedan.

31DC2015: Day 9, Rainbow Nails

Where metallic and black & white don't really spark much imagination for me, I feel the opposite for today's theme, rainbows.

I've seen a few manicures in the Facebook group Adventures in stamping that features leadlighting over a glitter base and have been meaning to create something similar for quite a while. I decided to do sort of a rainbow circle on each nail and then stamp a flower design over it. Even though there's a little bit of everything in this look (beads, stamping, glitter, 6 different colours), I think it's still quite coherent and not too out there, right?

När metall och svart-vitt inte fyller mig med inspiration känner jag tvärtom inför dagens tema, regnbågar.

Jag har sett ett par manikyrer i Facebook-gruppen Adventures in Stamping där någon har "leadlightat" (använt ett väldigt skirt lack över något annat lack eller stämpling) över en glitterbas och har tänkt skapa något liknande rätt länge. Jag valde att göra en cirkulär regnbåge på varje nagel och sen stämpla en blomma över. Även om det är lite av varje i denna manikyr (kaviarpärlor, stämpling, glitter, sex olika färger) så tycker jag det höll ihop rätt bra. Det är inte så galet va?

31DC2015: Day 1, Red Nails

It's September first and if you've been following nail art blogs for a while you know what that means, challenge time!

I've decided to take the 31 Day Challenge for the 3rd time but just like previous years, I won't be doing it at full speed. Creating manicures that I'm excited about every night and removing it the next just won't work for me, especially since September also marks the start for the new semester of German studies (with a promised grammar focus, weee..). We'll see when I finish but I'm hoping to do perhaps three posts per week which is a 50 percent increase around here....

I know fellow Swedish bloggers Gelic Nail Art and  My Nail Polish Online are also doing the challenge and I'm curious to find out who else is in?

Det är första september och om du följt nailartbloggar ett tag vet du vad det betyder, utmaningsdags!

Jag har beslutat mig för att ta mig an 31 Day Challenge för tredje gången men precis som tidigare år gör jag det på lite lägre hastighet. Att skapa manikyrer som jag gillar varje kväll för att ta bort dem nästa kväll funkar inte riktigt för mig, särskilt som den nya terminens tyskastudier också börjar i september (har grammatikfokus att se fram emot...). Vi får se när jag blir klar men hoppas kunna göra kanske tre inlägg i veckan vilket i så fall är en 50 procentig ökning här!

Jag vet att Gelic Nail Art och My Nail Polish Online också kör utmaningen nu men är nyfiken på vilka fler som är med?

Pink and blue mix and match nails

Hope everyone is enjoying the late summer weather! Finally we are getting some warmer temperatures here in Stockholm and I'm really enjoying it, especially since I have next week off from work!

To go with the summer weather, how about some bright nail art? I created this design on top of my jelly sandwich seen in this post. I simply added some dots to some nails and stamped the rest with MoYou London Bridal plate 06.
